Alloy Steel International is a vertically integrated Australian owned company operating a 9,000 square meter steel mill and manufacturing facility in Malaga, Western Australia. The facility combines chromium carbide wear plate production with fabrication of field ready applications.
Their customer partners range from large multinational corporations to small and medium-size public and private companies. They all have one thing in common; they expect ASI to show a high level of performance in everything they do – from courteously answering the phone, to delivering high-quality solutions, on time and on budget.
The Challenge
In 2010, ASI invested in an imported waterjet cutting system. Unfortunately, the quality of it and the support from the local dealer was not there. “It was not reliable, and the support was nonexistent.” said Michael Levytskyy, Principal Engineer as ASI.
The Solution
After extensive research, ASI selected a Techni Waterjet Intec 713-G2 integrated with the Quantum ESP 37/66 Electric Servo Pump. “The feedback we got from the market was impressive,” said Michael Levytskyy.”
The reason the company wanted this setup was also because of the efficiency gains over their former hydraulic intensifier pump, which is what they were dealing with before purchasing the new system. “The electric servo pump can save us 5-10k a year on power bills,” said Michael Levytskyy.
Results and Benefits
- Improved reliability in waterjet cutting operations
- Lower annual power consumption with estimated savings of $5 to $10k/year
- Stronger technical support
- Longer consumable life
- Improved production efficiency
The partnership with Quantum SPT has ensured ASI can deliver upon its mission, which is continuous improvement and customer total satisfaction with industry-leading quality products, service, and value-adding solutions.
