Fast Turnaround and Flexible Waterjet Cutting with Quantum Servo Pumps

Feb 25, 2026

Schippl, a subsidiary of the Späh Group, specializes in the production of elastomer and plastic components for technical industries. Founded in 1961, the company employs approximately 50 people and supports both custom part manufacturing and series production, with a strong focus on fast turnaround and flexibility.

As a reliable partner for technical trade and rush orders, Schippl continuously invests in advanced manufacturing technology to maintain high customer service standards.

Increasing Waterjet Cutting Capacity

To expand waterjet cutting capacity and improve operational efficiency, Schippl selected Quantum Servo Pumps for their proven energy efficiency and performance.

A dual pump configuration was implemented, capable of delivering pressures up to 4550 bar. This setup also provides operational redundancy, ensuring consistent production and supporting short lead times.

Operational Advantages

Thomas Wagner, Production Manager, explained:

We successfully trial cut thicker materials at pressures above 4000 bar, after previously changing to a larger orifice. The reduced setup time makes us more flexible and improves our overall waterjet cutting processes.”

The higher pressure capability and simplified setup allow Schippl to process thicker materials more efficiently while maintaining production speed.

Cost and Performance Benefits

Manfred Koch, Managing Director, added:

We have achieved consumable lifetimes of nearly 2000 hours and are saving money with the smaller Quantum pump compared to our sister companies that still use hydraulic intensifiers. Schippl stands for innovation, and the decision to invest further in Quantum technology was easy.”

The electric servo pump technology supports extended consumable life, reduced operating costs, and improved energy efficiency compared to traditional hydraulic systems.

Advanced Diagnostics and Ongoing Support

Dennis Schmidt from Quantum SPT commented:

“I look forward to seeing how Schippl continues to increase throughput. The new pumps are equipped with advanced diagnostics technology, and Quantum SPT will continuously monitor the equipment to ensure Schippl maximizes its investment.”

By investing in Quantum Servo Pump technology, Schippl has strengthened its waterjet cutting performance while maintaining fast turnaround, cost control, and operational flexibility.
